Social Studies / Geography

Allowing children to gain knowledge about different cultures helps them to not only connect with the world around them but also to understand and accept that differences are welcome. Children learn about cultures through music, food, literature, art, etc. They become travelers of the world!

Art

By allowing children to create their own masterpieces through the use of different mediums, we allow them to use their imagination without putting our values on their creations.

Music

We use rhythm, movement, and actions to a song to encourage the growth of a child’s musical ability. Whether it is through listening to different types of music, playing different musical instruments or using wooden spoons, children are bringing their own musical ideas to the classroom.

P.E. / Health

Physical development and gross motor skills are key components of a child’s brain development. Motor planning that begins on the playground extends into the classroom through cognitive skills. We have both organized physical education and free play on the playground. We base the activities on the developmental stages that are key for a child to reach as they grow. Whether it be climbing stairs, walking on a balance beam, or crossing hand over hand bars, each child is encouraged to try and each child’s accomplishments are celebrated. In addition to physical education, we encourage healthy eating habits and teach children about nutrition and the four food groups.
